Parent Training Program

Totally Kids® Rehabilitation Hospital has beds available and is ready to admit your medically fragile child.  Our Slogan “Almost Home” is where our Parent Training Program stands out!

The goal for all children is to finally be discharged to home.  It is very important to our team that the child’s whole family be involved in their care so the positive outcomes are long lasting. The Parent Training Program has two parts:  Nursing and Respiratory Therapy Training.

Nursing Training

Totally Kids® Nursing Training Program educates parents and families teaching them the skills they need for their individual child so a smooth and safe transition to home occurs.  Nursing staff will provide education on medication passes, GT care, feedings, and many more areas. This training can expand over a few days or weeks depending the caregiver/parent’s comfort level. We take pride in working with families at their individual pace and meeting their educational needs.

Respiratory Training

Our ventilator training program is focused for home care. Our team works with the family/caregiver directly to facilitate training and education that best meets the patient’s needs, optimizing ease of transition from hospital to home while helping the family and caregivers to function competently and with confidence.

Quality Respiratory Care seal

All families have the required 48 hour practice period where they can care for their child completely knowing that an experience staff nurse or RCP is just outside the room.

If you have a patient that would benefit from Totally Kids® Rehabilitation Hospital’s services, please call our Case Manager Department at 909-796-6915 and ask for information on the admission process and criteria for any of our facilities.  We also would be pleased to have you tour our beautiful and conveniently located facility, one block north of the Mountain View Avenue off ramp from the I-10 Freeway.
