We Specialize In Neurological Disorders

From the time our acute hospital opened its doors in 2014, the common thread among the majority of our pediatric patients has been neurological disorders. The level of acuity we provide has allowed us to be successful, often seeing our patients meet their rehabilitation outcomes ahead of the expected time.

So, what exactly is a neurological disorder? Any condition caused by damage to the brain, spinal column, or the nervous system. Depending on where the damage occurs, areas that control movement, communication, vision, hearing, or thinking can be affected.

The neurological disorders for which we provide rehabilitation services at Totally Kids Rehabilitation Hospital are usually the result of a damaging infection, such as meningitis, or an accident that causes traumatic brain injury, such as stroke, trauma, or hypoxia.  Many of these disorders result in additional needs requiring life-long management. What makes Totally Kids unique in treating neurological disorders with such level of success? We know how to help our patients recover and manage the effects of a neurological disorder in their lives.

We are able to offer our patients a level of care that meets and exceeds our goals for several reasons:

  • At Totally Kids we operate a distinctive pediatric acute rehabilitation program. Our only focus is pediatrics. We are deep in pediatric rehab and we do pediatrics best.
  • We are an intensive pediatric rehabilitation center, with extensive experience in caring for patients with serious needs, such as care for neurologic disorders or pulmonary issues.
  • We provide a level of acuity that other facilities are simply not set up to provide.

Our interdisciplinary team approach ensures that in addition to receiving 24-hour nursing care, our patients receive multiple therapies, including physical, occupational, speech, and play therapy. Our patients will also begin to receive Biofeedback therapy, an effective tool for pain management, which is performed using certain muscle relaxation, breath and mental exercises.

We are truly in a league of our own when it comes to providing rehabilitation services to children and young adults with neurological disorders. Contact a member of our case management team at 909-796-6915 ext. 275, or our marketing department at ext. 116 for a tour of our facilities, to meet our medical staff, and to see for yourself the wonderful things we are doing for our patients.
