Totally Kids Has Been Accredited by The Joint Commission for More Than 20 Years.
We at Totally Kids feel very happy and proud to showcase our accreditation from The Joint Commission (TJC). We are accredited as part of their Hospital, Laboratory, and Nursing Care Center Programs. Our accreditation are very meaningful to us because they speak to the commitment held by each member of our medical and administrative teams to provide the highest level of care to our patients. In effect, we have demonstrated continuous compliance with the quality standards The Joint Commission evaluates as part of its accreditation program since 1996.
The Joint Commission is the country’s oldest and largest standard-setting and accrediting body in health care. It seeks to improve health care by evaluating health care organizations and encouraging them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. Although accreditation by TJC is not mandatory to provide our services, we pursued it to confirm that our quality of care is of the highest level.
Once a health care organization begins the process of accreditation, a team of Joint Commission surveyors visits the facilities completely unannounced. Each team of surveyors is made up of highly trained experts who are doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, laboratory medical technologists, and other health care professionals. Each member of a surveying team has to be certified, which sets The Joint Commission apart as the only accrediting body that requires its surveyors to be certified.
During a survey visit, surveyors select patients at random and use their medical records as a guide to evaluate whether the organization complies with The Joint Commission’s high standards. The random nature of visits and patients selected for evaluation ensures that the organization being assessed is not able to manipulate the survey. Surveyors assess the patient’s experience and talk to doctors, nurses, and any other member of the staff who interacted with the patient selected during the survey. They also talk to patients themselves.
Once accredited, an organization will receive another unannounced survey visit within 39 months, or 24 months if it is a laboratory. Throughout different surveys, The Joint Commission has observed that Totally Kids has programs, studies, and activities that are of superior quality and has recommended that we submit them for Best Practice recognition.
We have been successful in the different TJC surveys we have undergone for the past two decades. We remain committed to continuing earning our accreditation indefinitely. You can count on our commitment to continue providing our pediatric patients with the highest level of care.
