Child Development News – December 2014
Hello! My name is Pauline Hennessey and I am the Director of Developmental Care & Patient Services for Totally Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Totally Kids is a pediatric rehabilitation hospital, serving children 2 to 21 years of age that have rehabilitation needs. We also have a distinct part, subacute care facility serving children from birth to age 21, who are medically fragile and technology dependent. Over the Holidays, the Child Development Department host several events for the patients, their families and the staff.
On November 9th we held our “One More from the Heart” benefit bike run where over 400 motorcycle riders from the surrounding communities participated by donating over $12,000, clothing and toys to benefit the residents at our facility. We had a big celebration to thank the participants for the kindness and generosity.
This weekend on December 13th, we are hosting our annual holiday party where families and patients come together to celebrate. We will have a special visit from Santa and his elves, who come bearing presents for all the patients. A children and young adult’s choir will entertain the guest with Christmas Carols for all to hear. Fun activities will be provided in Santa’s Workshop where the children are able to make Christmas crafts and play games. We should have a great turn out this year and the patients and their families will have lots of fun!
