Sunday, November 11th was a special day on the Totally Kids campus. Hundreds of motorcycles arrived.Their riders bearing gifts and donations that brought smiles to our residents. As has been the case every year since 1990, the One More From the Heart Biker Run was organized with heartfelt compassion by community volunteers in support of Totally Kids.
The run began at Chopper Place in Riverside at 9:30 a.m. and arrived at the Totally Kids campus just before 11:00 a.m. With sirens blaring and engines roaring the bikers cruised onto campus, marking the start of this wonderful event. It is always heartwarming to see the bikers visit, read, color, and play with our residents. Honda Ray, the event coordinator, said, “This run is all about the kids. There are no sign-in fees, run pins, T-shirts or celebrities. It is just a nice thing to do.”
Nice indeed! Thanks to the generosity of the more than 300 bikers that participated in One More From the Heart, our multipurpose room was overflowing with donated items! Donations that included toys, clothing, and electronics. Cash donations enable us to purchase items for the kids that are not covered by insurance and to fund outings for our residents. In the past these outings have included taking our residents to Disneyland.
We are thankful for the efforts and giving spirit of all the bikers who participated in the 2018 One More From the Heart Biker Run. These donations make an incredible difference in the lives of our residents.
