A brief note to our public about infection prevention at Totally Kids.
From: Doug Padgett, President & CEO
Every member of our community has a responsibility to protect ourselves and our loved ones from illness that can be prevented. Good information is available and we must educate ourselves to this latest concern about the Corona (COVID-19) virus. This is a shared concern and we’re asking for your help.
Totally Kids is implementing strategies recommended by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to prevent the spread of the virus. I want to assure you that Totally Kids is being vigilant and we are arming ourselves with up-to-date information available from trusted sources. We are gathering practical advice from our medical staff leadership and our clinical scientists. They are receiving daily consults from other infectious disease specialists in our community, and the organizations listed above.
When you visit our campus, you will see we are raising the awareness of staff and all visitors to the importance of washing hands thoroughly and frequently, and to not touch your face with your hands. Remember how important it is to see that your children wash their hands; help them with handwashing techniques when necessary!
Whether you are an employee, volunteer, visitor, or family member, we are asking you to be responsible and monitor yourself for any cold-like symptoms. Please, do not come to our campus if you feel ill, or have a fever or a cough. If you have traveled to any restricted country, or have been with someone who has, please do not visit. You will be asked questions about your health and your recent travel. Please ask yourself these questions before you even get in the car.
We’ll be replacing hand-shakes with gestures, and, as usual, taking your temperature upon your arrival in reception. We’ll be asking you to go directly to the area where your child is receiving care.
Totally Kids is known as a high-quality provider, as evidenced by our 5-Star quality award from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We will use our experience to benefit all of our patients, residents and families in this new situation. We are prepared to escalate precautions upon the advice of medical authorities. I promise to keep you informed about our response to advisories and alerts given by the Department of Health and Human Services. Let’s keep working together to keep our community safe.
