Gibran Goes Home

Totally Kids Pediatric Subacute would like to share the rewarding experience when one of our residents went home.

The celebration happened last Friday and staff all came to say good bye.   Gibran enjoyed the games and having people play and interact with him.  Gibran was given a scrapbook filled with pictures from the moment that he came to Totally Kids at 7 months old to these photos of our last moments being shared with him.   Staff enjoyed his great sense of humor and beautiful smile.  Gibran honored us with his presence for almost 1½ years.   We will miss you Gibran! But we are also excited beyond words that you are home with your parents and siblings.

The average length of stay for residents at our pediatric subacute facility is 4 ½ years.  Many residents stay until they reach 21 when they are transferred to an adult facility.  We are especially pleased when children stabilize and can take advantage of the pediatric rehabilitation services now being offered at Totally Kids Rehabilitation Hospital before returning home.  Several children have taken advantage of this new service now offered.
