Programs offered at Totally Kids include acute pediatric rehabilitation (both inpatient and outpatient), subacute, pediatric day health and residential intermediate care. The children in our care may have a suffered catastrophic injury or illness. They may be dependent on technology or are recovering from physical trauma. Because we deal with very complex pediatric cases, we are neurologic and pulmonary experts who provide patients with the intensive therapies most appropriate for their needs and well-being.
No. We specialize in child and adolescent care - that is all we do. As a result, we focus on our core mission of enriching the health and quality of life of children. Our campus was specially built with this philosophy in mind. Each of our programs are designed so that children so can learn and progress with others their own age.
Our acute rehabilitation unit provides inpatient and outpatient acute care for children, adolescents, and young adults. Our pediatric subacute unit offers respite, long-term care and rehabilitation care for children from newborn to age 21.
We care for children, adolescents, or young adults who are recovering from neurological injury, spinal cord injury, brain surgery, amputation, orthopedic injuries, stroke, sports injuries, Guillain-Barre syndrome, multiple traumas, cancer, burns and much more. Our innovative care surpasses industry standards for clinical outcomes and shorter lengths of stay.
Yes. At Totally Kids we complement the experience and comfort of our clinical staff with many of the same cutting-edge technologies found in the nation's most sophisticated pediatric rehabilitation facilities. These include:
- EKSO Bionic Exoskeleton – Allows patients to perform movements and utilize muscles they usually do not utilize or execute due to spinal cord injury, stroke, or other conditions or disorders.
- Virtual Reality Gaming – To assist kids in their recovery.
- Biofeedback – For pain management, psychotherapy and to increase range of motion.
Most of our patients in subacute care are those who have experienced catastrophic illnesses or injuries and are dependent on some form of technology. They may have neurologic Injuries, congenital birth deficiencies, cardiac or respiratory illness, seizure disorders or premature birth complications. Our highly personalized approach allows each child to attain his or her greatest promise and highest possible level of independence – physically, mentally and socially.
Your child is unique and special both to you and to us! We care about childrens' entire developmental needs, not just the diagnosis for which they are admitted. Toward that end, Totally Kids' award-winning care program pairs children with our nurturing caregivers who understand each child's unique developmental needs. We provide patients with the therapies and child development activities required for each child to grow into his/her fullest potential. Our kids have the same caregivers to maintain consistency in their treatment. These caregivers are experts in providing fun, educational and therapeutic activities to help kids meet developmental milestones. Through this familiarity we create a family-type environment for the children, which is supportive of physical and psychological improvement.

In addition, our clinical scores, as rated by independent agencies, confirm that children admitted to Totally Kids have shorter lengths of stay when compared to generic acute care rehab facilities. Simply put, children can get back home, back to school, and back to being kids faster and with better outcomes when they are cared for in Totally Kids' child-focused acute rehabilitation setting.
We provide 24-hour personal care, developmental services and nursing supervision in a 15-bed facility that serves as a temporary or permanent home away from home for medically fragile children. These children, from newborn to 18 years of age, may be developmentally disabled or developmentally delayed and benefit from having a licensed nurse available 24/7.
KidShip is a unique preschool program that brings medically fragile or developmentally delayed children together with kids without disabilities to play and learn in one supportive setting. It is the only pediatric day healthcare program in the Inland Empire that offers a full-inclusion preschool program for children.
Our team of pediatric specialists includes physicians, registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, recreational-therapy specialists, pediatric intensivists, pediatric neurologists, child development specialists, psychologists, respiratory therapists, registered dietitians, nurse case managers and school teachers. The combination of professionals working with your child depends on his or her individual needs.
Absolutely. We believe families must remain an important part of their child's healing. This is why we provide families with the training and resources they need to become active participants in their child's recovery. We then work closely with the family to return the child to home, whenever possible.
Yes. All our patients are referred to us by a physician who believes that the child will get the best possible care and attention by being admitted into one of our programs.
Most insurance organizations cover care at Totally Kids if the patient qualities as having a medical need. We have contracts with many insurance organizations and can obtain authorization on a case by case basis most of the time. We were the first in the State of California to contract with Medi-Cal for pediatric sub-acute care.
Yes. Since 1996, Totally Kids' subacute unit has demonstrated continuous compliance with The Joint Commission, the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. The same is true for Totally Kids acute rehabilitation hospital since opening in 2014. In addition, Totally Kids subacute hospital has received the highest rating (5 stars) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The rating is based on assessment in quality measures, staffing and onsite health inspections. It also reflects the love we have for our patients as well as our commitment to provide them with the best possible care at all times.
