Neurofeedback at Totally Kids

Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns more efficiently. We observe the brain in action from moment to moment. We show that information back to the person. The brain is rewarded for changing its own activity to more appropriate patterns. This is a gradual learning process. It applies to any aspect of brain function that we can measure.  Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG. Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. Self-regulation is a necessary part of good brain function. It allows the central nervous system to function more effectively.

Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dysregulation.  When a person has a traumatic brain injury or TBI the brain is injured, imbalanced and dysregulated. Z score training is a neurofeedback protocol that trains cognitive impairments and balances all the regions of the brain so it is able to heal and function more effectively. This protocol is especially valuable in training the brain to recover more quickly from TBI injuries and restore cognitive impairment.

Totally Kids has added this service as we recognize that Neurofeedback is valuable for many of the patients we serve at here at TK.  Neurofeedback training is effective as a treatment intervention for traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, pain, and trauma, which the majority of our patients are recovering from. We added this service to give our patients every opportunity and advantage to recover as fully and quickly as possible in the healing process.

Neurofeedback training is widely used as an intervention for a broad range of conditions including ADHD and ADD in the public and private sectors as well.
